Internazionale eased past Roma in a 3-1 victory on Wednesday at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Both Inter and Roma arrived on the back of wins. Inter were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against Sampdoria at home and Crotone away, by 5-1 and 2-0 respectively whilst Roma were looking to extend their winning run after a 5-0 victory against Crotone. As things stand, Inter are in 1st place, with 88 points from 36 matches, while Roma sit in 7th, with 58 points from 36.
The first half of the game started favourably for Inter, with Marcelo Brozovic giving Nerazzurri the lead in the 11th minute. The momentum was now with Inter, who then scored again through a goal from Matias Vecino, 20 minutes in to establish a 2-0. Giallorossi in turn, then responded at the 31 minute mark increasing their lead with an effort from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, finishing the first half 2-1.
Nerazzurri continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Romelu Lukaku finding the net just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 3-1.
For Inter, Lautaro Martinez, Achraf Hakimi, Stefano Sensi, Andrea Pinamonti and Ashley Young, came on for Alexis Sanchez, Ivan Perisic, Matias Vecino, Lautaro Martinez and Matteo Darmian. Roma brought on Stephan El Shaarawy, Gonzalo Villar, Carles Perez and Bruno Peres for Pedro, Bryan Cristante, Ebrima Darboe and Rick Karsdorp.
The referee booked Ebrima Darboe, Davide Santon, Marash Kumbulla and Rick Karsdorp for Roma.
